I’ve been eying this “junk yard” right across the street from my apartment for a few weeks now, and I finally decided it was time to take out my camera and head on over. What I found: PURE. GOLD.
I could have spent hours, well I did spend about an hour and a half, taking pictures of this single tractor. It has so much character from being out in the elements for so long, yet parts of it seem pristine.
The hardest part of this project was finding different angles to shoot from. Now, looking back I should have shot a few more wide angle/longer depth of field shots. I just got so wrapped up in the details of this thing. I had a good time getting down and dirty with this shoot. I found myself in some pretty interesting positions; on the grass underneath it, straddling it with a foot on the steering-wheel and one on the tire. I had so much fun with this. It definitely won’t be the last junk-yard adventure in my book.
Some of my favorite shots I got were of textures. I got some real gems.
I blended these next two images to get the third one you see. The texture image is of the cracked leather seat on the tractor.
This is another texture overlay I did. I love how it turned out.
Here are a few more texture shots I got which I can’t wait to use.
