It’s no mystery that a good online presence is important for success. If you’ve had experience establishing a good online presence, you’ll know that at times, it’s easier said that done. Here are a few questions that I feel are important to ask your web designer.
Is it compatible with all devices? – According to Skillcrush, 40% of web users will go to a different site if the one they click on isn’t mobile friendly. That’s probably because more and more people are browsing the web primarily on their mobile devices. According to Comscore, 4 out of 5 consumers shop on their smartphones. If your web designer gives you a blank stare when you ask about “responsive design”, promptly find someone new.
How do I manage and create new content? – Hopefully your web designer is creating a site which will have a content management system in place so you can easily create, edit, and moderate the content on your website. A custom website is great, but you don’t want to end up with something you’ll have to call in the whole IT team for every time you want to write a new blog post.
Will any of the pages take longer than 3 seconds to load? – According to Econsultancy, 40% of web users will leave a site if it takes longer than 3 seconds to load. It’s something which isn’t hard to ensure, you just need to make sure.
